There’s a moment when we decide we’re too old to play with toys— whether it’s self-imposed or a response to societal pressure. In this project, I revisit that shift by using my childhood dolls to tell a story of their ongoing influence on my creativity. Using mirrors and physically morphing into the doll’s image and clothes, I reflect on how I once imagined myself inside the stories I created.
By constructing a playful felt set and incorporating mixed media, I recreated a nostalgic environment. Through DSLR photography, package design, and stop-motion animation, these pieces evoke childhood nostalgia and add a static, doll-like quality to the visuals. This collection of artwork invites viewers to reflect on their own childhood memories and how the creative freedom of play can be carried into their everyday lives.
